DEADPOOL #50

All those characters appears in this double sized issue.  So that was fun to work on.

This was my last issue working on Deadpool.  Maybe one of these days, I'll get to work on Deadpool again.  He was one of the first characters I was able to work on when I started working in comics.  It was like goofing around with a old friend.

Goofing around with Spawn

Just a little something I did for fun inking over Jin Han's pencils over Blue Line.  I wanted to see what I can do with different styles of inks.  Pointy, loopy, sharp, dull and flat.  
After I was done, I gave it away.  This one went to Australia.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN ALPHA & OMEGA #2

Copies of Wolverine and the X-Men Alpha & Omage #2 with my inks over a few pages of Mark Brooks pencils.


With the pencil pages I was working on, Mark Brooks were doing it all digital.
When I got a hold of it, It was traditional hand inks with a bit of digital work to maintain the textures Mark wanted.

The character above in panel 3 was a bit confusing to ink.  She had this exo-suit where I had to halo (white line separating two black area) it out.  Then her person also had halos.  I'm one of those inkers who like to ink around the halos, as supposed to using white ink on top of blacks.  I know it's a bit more work, but I'm nutty that way.

It turned out okay with the colors as you can see above.  I know halos sometimes confuses the colorists as to what color they should add into the halos and they need to be more careful with them.  For example, in panel two, the tip of the index finger didn't have the white halo and it falls back into the background colors.

Green Lantern Comission

On the left of the picture below is the original pencil piece by Steven Sanchez which was sent to me.  An art collector contacted me requesting the piece to be inked over blue line as he wanted to have a triptych framed piece.  Pencils on the left, inks in the middle, and colors on the right.  So I took the pencils, scanned that in and printed it out on Blue Line for inks. 
The art collector was going to hire a computer colorist to do the colors over my inks. but I thought it would be cool to hand paint the image myself.  Instead of having a computer colored piece framed from a printout, it'll be a colored piece done by hand.  After the inks were done (center), I scanned it and printed that out in black & white.  Using the printout and worked my Water Colors over it.  Below are all three all scanned up.
This commission traveled it's way to Portland, Oregon.

WOLVERINE AND THE X-MEN #5

Comps for Wolverine and the X-Men #5 where I inked over Nick Bradshaw's pencils.  Here's how the cover looks.

Here's a picture I took of a work in progress.  It was my first time working with Nick, so we communicated about the inks and I sent him this picture.  As you can see, I've done all the faces, backgrounds, and some hands.   My next step would be all the hair then the figure work.  But I didn't take a picture of that, because when that's done, everything is done.

THE FLASH BY GEOFF JOHNS OMNIBUS VOL. 2 HC

Here's a first for me.  Hard Cover Comp copy of some work I've done a long time ago for the FLASH comic.  It's the first Omnibus book that has some of my work in it.  This thing is huge and has over 600 pages.

FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E. #7

Comp copies of Frankenstein, Agent of SHADE #7 where I inked over Alberto Ponticelli's pencils.  Here's a picture of a bunch of the same comic I got from DC Comics.

Interior page.  This page took the longest to complete because of all the weapons.  Each has their own little details.  Call me crazy because when all was inked, I even added a few more shelves/cases of weapons that we're originally in the pencils.  All the way back there towards the vanishing point.

GOTHAM CITY SIRENS: DIVISION tpb

Trade Paperback Comp copy of some work I've done for Gotham City Sirens #22 here.  I didn't realize this until I posted this entry.    Seems like that one issue I've done has got a lot of mileage.  Not only is it reprinted in this trade, it was also reprinted in the Batman: Gotham shall be Judged trade as well.

MARVEL ADVENTURES SUPER HEROES #23

Here's a comic with my inks over Ray Anthony Height's pencils.  The project was completed sometime last year around January of 2011, but it wasn't until recently that it was published.  The work was probably used as an inventory which was used later when needed.  I almost forgot about this one until Ray Height posted it up on Facebook a couple of months ago.  Here's the comps I got...

There's the title page.  All those little guys you see may look like stats (same image that are duplicated), but I actaully hand inked each and every one of them.  Ray did the Photoshop magic in Photoshop and I dipped inks by hand.
